route: jogged down to preston, jogged 12 laps on the outside lane of the track. goofy me thought that 6 laps on the outside was 1 mile -- i actually needed to do 7. oh well. lesson learned. i did (close to) 2 miles on the track, and then walked back to my office. it was HOT outside! 84 degrees and sunny.

route: our driveway to the end of morningglory and back. it was HOT! i really wanted to give up on the way back. i saw a girl walking her dog, and i thought that WALKING looked so much more fun at that moment. however, i finally made it back to the house. there was a little dizziness, but oh well. :) it was just too hot, and i went farther than normal.

it was HOT and MUGGY. cort went with me to encourage me. it was funny -- i am SO much slower than him. oh well.

transfer of recent run info

i had started a google page as a running log. my younger brother had started one, and i thought it was a good idea. since then, i've thought "blogging" might be a fun way to keep up with it instead of the google page. so, i'm transferring all of that info in the next several posts.

a fresh start

i had attempted running before, a couple of years ago. inspired and encouraged by my husband, i ran pretty consistently (at least for me!). i even got up the courage to run several 5k's in the area. my goal each time was to finish and to hopefully beat my last 5k time. let's face it, i would never beat anyone in a race. i just wanted to beat my previous times.

in may of 2006, i found out that i was pregnant with our first child. needless to say, i didn't feel like exercising very much in the beginning, and i certainly didn't feel like it later on when i got bigger. in december, we had a baby boy. i had a good pregnancy and a good labor/delivery. he is a healthy, fun little guy. :)

with the whole pregnancy, i gained about 30 pounds. right now, 3-4 months later, i am still about 12 pounds heavier than i was pre-pregnancy. i am attempting to make a fresh start, and pick up the running again. i am not where i was before, and that is a hard adjustment to make. i guess i thought i could just pick up where i left off -- that's not happening. so, i have to start again. it's a struggle. i would much rather sit on the couch, and eat chips and drink a coke. i am starting this blog basically as an accountability for myself. we'll see if it works.
